An individual needs to believe in themselves and love who they are! Every student needs to have their social-emotional wellbeing intact before their academic potential can be realized. Literacy can provide my fourth graders the ability to learn important skills, as a whole class, from characters, situations, problems, and solutions in a book. The texts I have requested will offer up learning opportunities, discussions and connections in the moment and a resource to be revisited, as deemed necessary. Writing about student thinking will also be an important part of learning. My Fourth graders will be able to create stories, from the main teaching points of the texts, across the literal genres.
