I chose flex space equipment because I feel that it creates an atmosphere for optimized learning. In teaching special education, I have found that if scholars have the choice of seating and can find comfort, they are better able to absorb and learn. Sensory needs can be met with flex seating in addition to accommodating a scholar's need for personal space. When a scholar's need for safety of space is met, learning can commence. At present, my school's population includes many scholars who have faced significant trauma which causes the school to be the place where they are most able to feel safe. With flex space seating, I feel that I am better able to meet our scholars where they are rather than them having to adhere to traditional style classroom seating. In my experience, this allows for better communication and collaboration in regards to the scholars' needs and their learning.
