I will be a first year kindergarten teacher this year. In my daily classroom schedule we use writing workshops. Students learn about the basics of writing and also gain practice in building their writing skills in primary composition notebooks. These workshops start in the first week of school and go into the last weeks of school. Students writing is collected and used to show how their stamina and creativity has grown throughout the year. Formal writing samples are collected and used for grading in file folders with the students name labeled on it. These folders are also pulled during parent conferences to showcase a students work.
