My classroom is a skills-based classroom. This honors the individual way they learn while still ensuring a standard goal. I also teach at a Title 1 school which means 90% of my students are at or below poverty level. These supplies will help my students grow and achieve their optimum academic performance without having to worry about affording supplies. As a first year teacher, I currently have nothing in my classroom but desks and some leftover chalk. I would like my students to have access to simple things such as pen and paper. However, there are also many other things that my classroom needs to succeed. For example, I need a stool to teach from. I also need basic supplies such as a hole punch, stapler, tape dispenser and things of that nature to ensure my classroom runs smoothly. I use project-based learning in my classroom. This means that all of my students have an opportunity to succeed using how they learn best. However, this also means that I need basic art supplies such as markers, crayons, poster-boards, etc.
