These materials will be given to my students in 5th grade who join the ukulele club during recess (one day a week) and after school. I will be teaching them different notes and techniques in playing the ukulele and some songs if we have time! My students will benefit from the ukulele club because playing the ukulele is fun and easy, it gives them a way to creatively express themselves, and it will help them build relationships with each other and themselves! They will be able to keep their ukulele also so they can play it at home! It is proven that children who play instruments achieve higher in math because playing an instrument requires you to count notes and rhythms. I want to give my students song-writing ability to express their thoughts and feelings, also! We will be improving writing skills, reading skills, and math skills.
