Getting little ones to sit still and focus is a challenge in today's classrooms when curriculum is so demanding at this young age and many students come to school with issues out of their control. Students want to learn and be accepted by others. Some struggle to stay on task and some struggle to see that we need to work together. The supplies I have requested for my new classroom community of first graders will give my students flexible seating during the day and teach them that a caring community is a successful community. The donations to this project will give all of my students the opportunity to be engage in learning and to feel successful. The varied seating options will help those who are full of energy to be more focused on the lesson or activity. My experience has shown me there are times when giving students a choice of where to work keeps them engaged and less likely to have behavioral issues. I believe this is true for all ages, especially those still getting use to a classroom atmosphere. The books will be used to help build a sense of community within our classroom. Using stories my little ones can relate to, will help to teach them that everyone has something to offer and we must work together if our community is to be successful. Your help is truly needed and appreciated in making our classroom a place where all of the students will feel comfortable learning, and have a sense of belonging. You will be a part of their learning to accept and appreciate those around them, and them wanting to be part of a learning community. Thank you for caring and donating.
