I love that my 5th grade students wanted to come up with a way to give back to our community! I am so excited to help them “find their voice” with their passion project. We have been talking about ways to spread kindness, identify our gifts and talents, and share them with others. We have decided as a class, that we would like to do a project that could reach many families in our community and allow us all to share our special talents. We would like to host a Story Walk on our school grounds. For our Story Walk project, we will post pages of a book outside around the school, along with questions and discussion topics about the book, allowing families to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and a special story together. We are excited to build signs together, come up with questions, make fliers and commercials to promote our Story Walk - allowing all of us to use our special gifts. We are so excited to bring a Story Walk to our community. Your kind donation will help us purchase the materials needed to build the Story Walk pages to be posted around the school grounds. We hope that the families will enjoy reading the story of The Couch Potato, by Jory John and Pete Oswald. We look forward to getting families moving outside, all while enjoying a book together. Who knows, maybe a School Street Story Walk can become a permanent Bradford fixture, with new stories added each month! Thank you!
