With the addition of tablets in our classroom, we will be one of the only classrooms in the school that has access to such technology. My students will be able to access apps that reinforce skills and enable higher level learning. A tablet helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners open up the doors of education and individualize their learning experiences. The tablet will become a tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences in the classroom as well as build twenty-first century skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world. My students will be able to work in centers with the tablets and headphones, writing, reading, learning phonemic awareness skills, working with math manipulatives and more. They will receive adaptive technology while waiting in the progress monitoring or IEP process. They will be able to create both independent and collaborative projects in order to show true understanding of concepts.
