The items I've requested will help both academically and with their social and emotional wellness. Academically, they will be given opportunities to present and develop communication skills using the technology to communicate their thinking. This will be my primary use of the iPad, Apple TV, and pen. I will be able to interact in real-time with student examples and they will, in turn, be able to manipulate models, etc. in front of the class as they explain their thinking or present projects in front of the whole class. This will improve our math discussions by driving deeper learning as they teach their peers. On the SEW side, students will use the tools for anxiety and attention deficit issues. Students are struggling more than ever with attention and emotional regulation issues. The wobble chairs will help students who struggle sitting still. The noise-canceling headphones and weighted blanket will help students alleviate stress from outside forces that are causing anxiety and even distraction. I will use the point tool so that I can have more proximity to my students to help with behavioral and attention issues. If I am free to move around the room and not be anchored to my computer, it will make for more interactive classroom management will improve which will, in turn, help focus. It is important to have tools readily available in the classroom so that they can focus. I am excited to use the blanket, earphones, and stools to create a more peaceful and safe place for my students.
