Flexible seating provides students the ability to work in a space that is most comfortable for their individual needs. My students appreciate the opportunity to chose the place they work each day. Currently, my students have a variety of seating options to choose from such as: tables with exercise balls, yoga mats, small tables with cushions on the floor, and scoop rockers. The ability to take control of their learning environment really helps them to remain motivated and engaged. I hope to give them even more options by adding portable lap desks and wobble stools to the choices in our classroom. Providing my students the choice of what works best for them helps them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
