Scholastic News will provide my class with colorful, engaging, current event stories on their reading level. For the past few years my school has not provided a social studies textbook. Teachers are expected to look on the internet for news articles and print copies for the students. I want to change that by providing them with something fun to learn from. Black and white worksheets are boring and the kids groan when they see them. Storyworks Jr magazines are amazing for teaching reading comprehension. I was able to purchase a class set in 2010. Students in my class loved them and I used them for at least 5 more years before I had to finally throw them away when they literally fell apart.
