This school year our district is recognizing the impact Social-Emotional Learning plays in the comprehensive development of students. As an intervention classroom, we are striving towards implementing this critical Social-Emotional Curriculum within our whole group and individual lessons. Students that come to our classroom have deficits in many areas but specifically social-emotional challenges that impede their learning and impact their academic success. Unfortunately, we are lacking the books and resources to meet this goal. As we move to integrate the Social-Emotional curriculum it would be extremely beneficial to have books that focus on key skills such as self-awareness, building positive relationships, decision making, goal setting, self-management, communication skills, and many other essential competencies. These books will be an integral addition to our classroom and later used in my school counseling curriculum as a resource for Bibliotherapy.
