We love to start the school year by building relationships and making all students feel like we are a school family. The first step is taking pictures of them with their family on the first day. We hang family photos on our family board. If students are missing their mom, they can go look at their family photo. Pictures are a great motivational tool. We also take lots of pictures of students during the first two weeks participating in school activities. We use these to show students themselves and how hard they are working. We use photos to help build our daily schedule. We use them to create charts and routines for our classroom. It helps students to see themselves in photos practicing the school routine. It is a great reminder that they can do it. Help my students feel like they are truly a school family and that they help build that family! When students build a classroom family, they are more successful because they feel emotionally supported.
