My students are sitting on the floor, because I have 32 students and a small area rug. Due to the nature of my class, my student need to be at the carpet during modelings, small groups, and read-aloud. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a sitting at the meeting area during read-aloud, and modeling. They almost always make good choices on the carpet and more engaged, and are able to get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
