When working in an urban school that has a lack of resources it's very hard to give my kids hands on STEM experiences. Donors Choose allows us to access the necessary resources needed for lifetime learning and memories. In our science class we like to learn through exploration and experiences. In 7th grade science the one thing kids truly look forward to is dissecting specimens. It's something that they will remember for the rest of their lives. With these materials it will allow us to dissect 3 times through out the year. We will dissect a cow eye, sheep heart, and sheep brain. In order to do this properly we need to be safe. Since specimens are preserved with harmful chemicals it is important for students to wear safety goggles and gloves. With out these items we would be unable to have these experiences. The models are important to understand the organs before cutting them. Experiences like this will help my students fall in love with STEM and continue growing as great scientist. One day many of my kids will aspire to work in a lab, become a pharmacist, serve as a doctor, become a nurse, or dream to be biologist. Help us learn through exploration. Shape are STEM workers for the future.
