It's simple. I want my students to have a higher quality of life. Within the multiple disabilities world of the severe and profound disabled, our students are often self-contained and do not receive the same experiences that their general education peers receive, academically, physically, or socially. Most with visual impairments, and multiple medical incidents/conditions, they require highly colorful, visual, and interactive lessons, usually less receptive to your common black/white worksheets. Most cannot read. This requires highly colorful (and sturdy) visuals that they can use over and over again to communicate and learn. I want to provide colorfully visual and tactile experiences for them. Consider giving to this worthwhile group of students. They may not ever be able to thank you verbally, but you would have impacted their quality of life for the better.
