Students are naturally curious and eager to learn about the phenomena that is the world around them. What better way to encourage that curiosity than through hands on projects and interactive notebooks. So much of their learning is done through technology that students get super excited when the scissors, glue and art supplies come out. Projects and interactive notebooks encourage students to work together, explore the content on their own terms, and present their ideas in creative and fun ways.
By donating to this project you are giving students an opportunity to complete hands-on projects and make real world connections. It has been proven that when students are able to make real world connections their long term retention of the material improves and they are able to more easily connect prior knowledge with future concepts. Working together in pairs and small groups allows students to develop social skills, time management, and problem solving skills. These skills are not only important in the classroom, but in their future careers as well.
Hands-om activities are a great way to keep students engaged, encourage self-guided learning, and promote the skills that will be needed not only in school but in their future careers as well.
