My students have been working in flexible seating classrooms on 1:1 devices for the last two years. Many of the classrooms they are coming to me from, have a warm, home like environment that my students desperately lack in their own homes. Many of my students, don't have basic necessities let alone comfortable furniture to relax or do school work on. I would love to jump on the flexible seating bandwagon utilizing these furniture and lighting items to encourage collaboration and deep discussions with my students and make their classroom an enjoyable space to learn and grow in. Research shows, especially in 1:1 classrooms that the old desks and chairs classrooms of the past are not effective ways for our technologically advanced students to learn. I want them to have a space of the future in my classroom where they can take charge of their learning, develop socially and emotionally and flourish academically.
