I think students perform best when they are comfortable or familiar with the materials they are being taught. I want my students to feel comfortable in my math classroom at all times, whether that be with the content I'm teaching or the desks they are sitting at. A lot of my student's time is spent at their desks. We take notes together and then students are given multiple assignments related to the content that has been taught. Rather than my students spending more time at their desks to complete their assignments, I want them to have the opportunity to get up and move around the room or exchange their chair for a seat that may feel more comfortable and relaxed. The way a classroom should feel.
