Because students are better engaged when they can play an instrument, having more choices will make for more participation and consequently, more success for all students. With the addition of tubanos, dejembes and other world percussion instruments, I will be able to engage more students in simultaneous learning. Students will be able to not only watch each other but will have more opportunity to play as well as sing. Adding rhythm accompaniments to story songs and fun songs at the end of each class will not only be engaging, it will provide more diverse accompaniment choices at concerts as school assemblies.
