I am a first year teacher, and I really want to include STEAM bins in our classroom. These bins will allow the students to get creative and be challenged by using their skills, knowledge and creativity to design and build. Hands on learning is more engaging, and students will be able to better retain their learning through more engaging lessons.
Science, technology, engineering, art and math are important for kids to begin learning and practiving at a young age- as these are the leading careers in our future. It is an incredible learning experience for the students, but it is also really fun for them!
My goal for these bins is for students to engage with them as early finishers- giving them something meaningful to do after their work is completed. Students will also be able to collaborate their ideas with eachother, and use teamwork to develop their project. This makes a difference in their learning as it gives them hands on practice and application of real world skills qnd knowledge.
