With your help my students will be able to come into a classroom feeling confident that they have everything they need to succeed! I hope to provide resources that inspire classroom engagement, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity! The reason I am choosing to use communal supplies in our classroom rather than having each student bring their own from home is because I want each of my students to have the same opportunities in our classroom. Since many of my students come from low-income households I cannot assume that they will always have the supplies they need. Having a class set of crayons and scissors will make it so each and every student has access to the same supplies in class everyday. I want every student to feel important and successful in our classroom. We will use these supplies every day for learning activities and individual practice. In TK and Kindergarten it is especially important to provide students the opportunity to work and play with their hands. This is why I chose magnetic tiles, Alphabet Sound Tubs, and pattern blocks. Tools like these allow for a hands-on approach and critical thinking while helping young students develop fine motor skills necessary for writing. These are essential for all students but especially important for my Transitional Kindergarten students who are still developing fine motor skills. I believe these items are essential to make student learning effective and engaging in Kindergarten and TK. At the end of the day my goal is to teach my students to love learning. I hope that by providing resources that inspire classroom engagement, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity, our classroom will become a more engaging and hands-on environment for my wonderful and diverse learners!
