I am requesting funding to attend a conference to begin the implementation of formative assessment development to monitor student learning, inform my instruction, and develop an effective system of intervention for underperforming students. Most significantly, I want to understand further the purpose and function of formative assessments and how to analyze and discuss assessment data during PLCs. My goal is to focus on improving my teaching practices and student achievement alongside ongoing, job-embedded, research-based PD on the development of formative assessments to ensure that all my students are 21st-century college and career ready. Additionally, I intend to return to my home school and facilitate a professional development plan for teachers with all that I have learned. Through my attendance, all students at the case school, and possibly the district will benefit, and implementation of formative assessments and data analysis will become standard practice.
