I currently teach Kindergarten Jr. through 6th grade music. With that comes some seating challenges. It's difficult to find seating that will accommodate a 5 year old student as well as a 13 year old. Currently, I have chairs that have an open back. My smaller, energetic students climb through the opening in the back and others have fallen through the back of the chairs causing minor injuries and distractions during lesson time. Appropriate seating in my classroom will help make my room a safe place for learning. I have requested 45 chairs that have a solid back to help with this current problem in my classroom. My classroom sizes vary depending on the grade I am teaching at the time, so that is why I have requested 45. Your consideration of this classroom improvement is very much appreciated.
