I will be a first year, fifth grade teacher beginning my teaching adventure in the fall of 2019. I will be responsible for teaching math, because of the way our school classrooms are divided up! My goal for this project is to increase my resources in order to make math fun (I always struggled with it) and engaging with plenty of hands-on tools and manipulatives for my students--not just lectures and worksheets. That's where the fraction tiles, counting bears, cubes, etc. come in handy. I also want to support their social-emotional growth with social skills activities, inspirational wall material, and rewards (using a ticket system to reward acts of kindness, appropriate social behavior, etc. to redeem for sensory prizes) as well as constructive, non-technology related break & indoor recess activities -- like legos, magna tiles, games to play with peers, and more! My students will have access to iPads and Chromebooks, but I don't want to rely on those as incentives simply because I don't have alternative constructive play activities available for them.
