My goal this year is to create lifelong lovers of literacy. The materials I’ve carefully selected all contribute to this goal. Bean bags and cozy spots near books on display will entice my students to read for pleasure in our classroom and help see themselves as lifelong readers. The word games I’ve asked for will help my students practice the parts of words that challenge them. The more they practice with fun games, the more they are willing to conquer challenging words in books they read. A color printer in my classroom will help my students “publish” their writing and see that their writing is valued! Building their confidence as writers is vital to lifelong literacy.
