Unfortunately, the books in my classroom are outdated, weathered, and some are missing pages. Although we have a library on campus, I think it is highly beneficial for students to have access to library books in the classroom. As I browsed through my classroom library, I was shocked at the lack of multicultural literature in my book collection. My students come from various cultural backgrounds and deserve to feel represented. These books will allow my students to gain a better understanding of their culture and its history, as well as the culture and history of others. By exposing students to multicultural books, we are creating a generation of unity.
