Students are surrounded by distractions, but the chair they work in should not add to the problem. After years of trying alternate seating choices in the classroom, I have found a chair that works well with all my students. Office chairs in the classroom give students the opportunity to work with one less distraction. Students can adjust the height to what’s comfortable, and the chair also allows students the opportunity to move while working without distracting others. With a slight twisting motion, students can work with more concentration and higher engagement. Classroom chairs come in one size, but students do not. When given an option of chair size, students do not always choose the size we are supplied with in the classroom. Office chairs will give me the opportunity to meet every students’ needs in finding the right chair.
