My students love to cook! We typically cook once a week. This can be challenging at times due to students needing to share materials, as well as the need to sanitize materials between users. We will be welcoming more new students into our classroom this upcoming school year as well. My students and I would love for everyone to participate in our activities at the same time! Donations to this project will be used to supplement our kitchen and provide cookie sheets, baking cups, spoons, spatulas, and mixing bowls to each of my students. Cooking not only teaches my students independent living skills, but math and reading skills as well. When we cook, we are reading the recipes, answering questions about them, planning, budgeting, measuring, and converting measurements. All of these skills will help them to become independent adults, help out around the house, and develop necessary employability skills.
