As a school community we strive on character development and coming together for warrior circles where we can not only share out topics and plans for our day but feelings and concerns that give children a sense of community. Coming together daily also enhances a child’s social skills. Throughout my years of teaching I have seen the importance of choice and allowing children to choose their seating arrangements. By providing more flexible options, it gives them the opportunity for a better learning experience! I am hoping that with the help of purchasing flexible seating furniture I can create a classroom environment that fosters on togetherness and a sense of community. Helping me provide this environment and watching them come together daily to work out problems and strategies for learning, would do nothing short than fill my heart with such joy. The items are all conducive to both individual study time which some students prefer at times as well as more collaborative discussion-based group work. Children can truly learn a great deal working through their learning from one another. I feel that allowing them the opportunity to have choice in where they sit creates a safe, relaxing atmosphere that can promote more learning for all!
