These materials will benefit my students in a plethora of ways. For starters, providing my Spanish speaking students with the opportunity to continue to thrive and develop their native language through reading will allow my Spanish speaking students to feel included as well as feel that their culture and heritage is just as important as American culture. Also, the Spanish emergent readers will introduce my other students to culture and heritage they may not be familiar with. Also, the leveled readers would build my students’ confidence in reading as well as increase their comprehension and fluency skills. The STEM books will provide all of the students and me with the opportunity to teach and learn across curriculum by including math, science, writing, language, reading, social studies, and technology because my students and I would be learning about inventions and their inventors. The easel pads would allow my students to be creative and create their own inventions and figure out how their invention could help their community as well as how much they think they should sell their invention for. We would do multiple drawings as well as research then when the project is finally completed we will hold a gallery walk for the other first grade classes to come and see to provide my students with the chance to discuss their inventions with the other teachers and students.
