I teach 6th and 8th ELAR and have approximately 120 students. Students work as a whole group, in small groups and as individuals. The whiteboards and dry erase markers allow for collaboration and kinesthetic learning as well as teacher assessment. Highlighters are used to analyze literature and student expository and persuasive writing. They need 2-4 highlighters each for these tasks. Card stock will be used for an end of the year poetry project. Manilla paper is used throught the year for various assignments and purposes. Scissors and pencil sharpeners will allow for more effective projects as there are never enough for everyone to use and students often do not have them. The paint is used for a couple of novel projects as fun connection activities and for student personal poetry books - poetry night.
