Students will have an opportunity in elementary to try a few new art mediums that the traditional art classroom doesn't have. Landscape painting in 5th and 3rd grade with acrylic paint instead of the traditional tempra paint will give students more options and quality in art work. Learning about graphic design, and then screen printing their own work onto fabric, or using traditional block printing on to paper in 4th and 2nd will show practices in a current art market. And finishing clay projects with glaze in first and second and kindergarten introduces a 3D type of art that is more hands on. Most of these students would never explore these areas until they reached high school, and I want to let them start to explore them now with the ability to gain confidence and creativity.
