I have students who will benefit from flexible seating by being able to control their environment, share space and supplies and move when they become distracted. Other ways flexible seating will help include being able to bounce, lean, twist, kick, fidget and sit to suit their needs. When students find comfortable positions throughout the classroom, they are calm, focused and productive. Some flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch which helps children focus and process information which is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD. Students are less disruptive and are able to burn off extra energy.
