Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. We are a new program. This will only be our second year up and running. Our classroom consists of 15-20 students from various other countries. Many of them have never been in a formal classroom setting, yet now they are here, sitting within the same four walls in traditional desks during their class time. This flexible seating option is more than a want at this point. It is a need, and I can not wait to implement it this year! Sitting in the same traditional desks all day becomes a monotonous task, especially for my students who have not had formal classroom instruction. We are a language intensive program, and it is downright exhausting for my students. They thrive with movement and literally anything that breaks up the daily chore of sitting in those desks. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The yoga mats and clipboards will allow students to move around the room and get comfortable. The small colorful stools will allow students to sit at the benches, desks, or even use with a clipboard. The benches will be great for use with my yoga balls as well. The fidget bands will be on all of the chairs and stools my students will be able to move without disrupting others. The two saucer chairs will be in used in our independent reading center.
