This year, our first graders will be starting the year by learning about tools and work, and specifically tools and work at school. Our school is undergoing a huge building renovation, and we are going to ground our learning about building, designing, and tools in this project. We'll be reading and writing about tools and engineering, interviewing experts, and creating actual tools and projects for other students to use at school! This project includes children's picture books about tools, work, engineering, architecture, and design. It also includes toys and tools for students to learn through hands-on exploration and structured play, which is a crucial way for young students to learn and experience the world around them. This project will combine both literacy and math, especially in helping learners understand real-world application of shapes and measurement, as well.
