Supplying my students with these items will not only help teach them the skills needed to function in everyday life, but will also help promote social interaction and communication skills. It is my goal as a teacher, to teach my students lessons that they will value, as well as equip them with skills they will be able to use in and outside of school. With this coffee cart business: "Project Acceptance," our class will start from the grounds up! We will begin with a general understanding and purpose of the business. We will learn about supplies, organizing materials, socializing/communicating with customers, understanding hygiene, learning about uniforms, following rules, kitchen skills, and money handling. These are just a few of the goals we can reach with this project! Our intention is to take this coffee cart throughout the school, during the morning hours, and sell coffee and tea to faculty members. We also plan to set up during after school functions, i.e. PTA nights, Our Community Day, etc. As a Special Education teacher, and strong advocate of disability awareness and acceptance, I value and encourage real-life learning to students with disabilities. Giving them the confidence to be independent, interact within the community, and celebrate their differences is my ultimate goal. With this project, my students will be able to gain so many skills necessary to enhance their educational journey! Please help my vision, "Project Acceptance," become a reality!
