As a learning support teacher, I work with students who struggle with various reading skills. We utilize textbooks during direct instruction, but I encourage my students to practice and apply these skills independently. My hope for expanding the options in our classroom library, is that students will be able find books that are interesting to them but that are also on their instructional level to avoid frustration. In having a larger selection, I can help guide students to choose a book that they will enjoy and have the opportunity to practice fluency, comprehensions and expand their vocabularies. We can also use these books to complete book projects or summaries to also allow students to practice their writing and summarizing skills. I appreciate any consideration in helping fund this project. Thank you!
