This art project will not only send a message of kindness and tolerance, it will let them explore what makes them unique and individual. Following a close reading of "Only One You" by Linda Krantz, students will create a "Kindness Rock" that reflects their individuality. After painting their rock with cheerful colors using the acrylic paints, they will then use the sharpie painting pens to embellish their kindness rock with positive and unique messages. Volunteers will use the Krylon to seal the rock and students will place it around the base of our flagpole for a daily reminder of kindness and diversity as they enter the school each morning. I have the unique opportunity to work with every student in our school. This school-wide opportunity will build school community and pride.
