Having a class set of the novel Ready Player One will increase students abilities to read independently and not wait until a book is available, as the department shares novels between several classes. Students can read at home, after work on an assignment, and complete activities without worrying they will need to return the book to the library, or it not be available for the student to use or readily review. The class set of Ready Player One provides an alternative reader to my students and allows them to focus upon themes they are readily familiar with. Many times sophomores do not hold interest in the novels because the topics are nothing they are familiar with.
