The kindergarten teachers at my school will use the Scholastic magazine Let's Find Out as a cross-curricular resource to enrich our science/social studies curriculum throughout the year. This magazine can help fill the gap in providing exposure to non-fiction texts on topics that young children find interesting. Let's Find Out magazine focuses on building content knowledge, vocabulary, and early reading skills. It is aligned with the Revised ELAR TEKS as well. With this weekly magazine and the online component, connections are made with math (graphing, measuring, counting), science, and the world around them. It is a great way for our young ones to learn about the world while building background knowledge and vocabulary.
