I recently read Book Whisperer and would like to use strategies from the book to promote literacy in the middle school classroom. The books chosen are from various genres, recommend by students. These books will allow students choice in what they read but still hold them accountable for meeting reading goals set to complete a specified number of books from each genre. They will be able to access books both in the classroom and be able to borrow them to read at home. I hope to improve test scores by instilling a love for reading in my students that will last past their years with me.
