The Fraction Strips will provide learners with the opportunity to develop their understanding of fractions in a hands on way. Fractions are one of the most difficult concepts but I have seen the power these strips bring and the different activities Marilyn Burns provides for them to engage in conversation and for the learning to really stick. The strips include games that have learners talking equivalent fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers in an organic way. This helps develop language needed before the abstract symbols come. These sets will provide enough for the whole grade level.
