It is important to me that my students learn how to effectively express their thoughts, feelings, and their needs as learners. We hold class meetings each day to reflect together and to build our community. It is important to me that our environment reflects student curiosity and promotes their passion for learning. But recognizing what you need in order to be successful in (and out of) the classroom is tricky. I work very hard to help my students get to know themselves as learners and make the best choices for themselves as they learn. The key to flexible seating is creating a classroom environment that offers enough spaces and flexibility to allow students to learn in a way that best helps their bodies and minds. I have begun the process of transforming my classroom with the help of my students. Their ideas and reflections have guided me to make adjustments using the materials and furniture I currently have. The changes made to our classroom environment have been very positive! Students are enthusiastic, engaged, collaborative and more independently driven. During our reflections together, students have suggested other materials that might help their learning experience. I have selected a couple options to give my students a variety of choices. First, I selected the wiggle stools. These stools will provide students with the option to easily move around while working with other students at our high tables in the classroom. Next, I chose two folding floor chairs. These chairs are portable and will allow students to sit anywhere in the classroom while reading or working with others. Through much research and reflection with my students, I have carefully selected these items that I believe will benefit my students the most. Thank you so much for supporting us!
