Our class was blessed last year with getting a donation of 30 Chromebooks. Everyday these Chromebooks were used for Math, Spelling, listening and reading along with stories, Literacy, Grammar, ESL and language skills. We also used them for test taking skills, Digital breakouts (team building and accessing and using prior knowledge). Math fast facts, test reviews, Daily news reports (performed by the students) digital book reviews (again by the students) and many many others. Providing each student with their own headphones would eliminate any distracting noise, helping to create an environment of focused learning. Also providing each student with their own mouse helps them to have the necessary tools to be successful on the many project that we do. The Chromebook touchpads are not always accurate and cause frustration. We have noticed that the students with mice have this problem removed. With this project my students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their technology is going to work or not. Plus in this technology driven world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their desire to learn and use the new technology.
