Comfort is always the key to being successful in the classroom. Many kids don't have this luxury within their homes, and making that a priority within our classroom is always a priority for my students! The large carpet would be placed in the front of our classroom and used as a comfy gathering spot during whole group meeting lessons and share time. Ensuring that my students have a comfortable seating area will keep them more engaged in their learning. The kid recliners will be used in our independent reading station. Kids can utilize the chairs as a way to relax, kick up their feet and enjoy some engaging reading time without being interrupted! The donations to our class project will help my students stay comfortable by engaging in meaningful learning through whole group meetings, share time and meaningful independent reading time! The time on our carpet will be spent engaging my students in multiple meaningful reading activities through interactive read alouds which nurture a student's ability to think, talk, and write about text. Shared reading books will also be introduced on the carpet so that students will learn to enjoy reading and learn critical concepts of how text work. Reading mini-lessons on topics such as management, strategies and skills, and writing about reading will also be introduced while sitting on the carpet. While students are engaged in their independent reading station, they can sit comfortably in the kid recliners while reading self-selected books that interest them and continue to grow their reading ability! Please consider investing in our kids and in their classroom! These kids are the future! Keep them comfy, but, most importantly, help them be successful in their learning!
