In our school, we will be implementing new programs in order to increase the students' ability to read and be more successful independently. These two new programs are "iReady" and we will be piloting the Reader's Workshop model. The "iReady" diagnostic and intervention program requires headphones because it has students watch videos and there is a lot of general noise that sounds on the students' Chromebooks. I do not yet have a class set of headphones so that was the first necessity. The Reader's Workshop model requires a classroom library makeover. I included new bookshelves and various materials in order to organize my new classroom library. The purpose of this is to make the classroom an environment more conducive for successful independent reading. The students have lost interest in reading and their test scores have demonstrated this. We are working together as a community to help students enjoy reading once again but we need help!
