Giving students the ability to choose what they read from a wide variety of genres will foster a love of reading and learning! I would love for my students to use these books in place of textbooks so that they are relating the skills and strategies taught in each lesson to high-interest text. I visualize my students picking up these books as soon as they enter my classroom and asking to take them home to continue reading. Not only will these books allow students to learn through high interest text, I hope that they will also be able to find some of the answers that they begin to search for in this stage of their lives. What we read guides us through our lives and can help to shape us in one way or another.
