These resources will help to promote many Nevada Academic Content Standards which have been hard to address during the pandemic. Many of our students remained on distance learning for the entire year in 2020/2021 and we have seen that "Covid Slide" far too much this year. Resource teachers are responsible for addressing deficit areas in students with IEP's to help close the learning gap and bring them closer to their grade level standards. This year that is more important than ever as we have so many students that are so far behind. Along with addressing the academic deficits of our students, it is also necessary to address the social and emotional aspects of our individual students. In order for our students to be successful learners and well-rounded individuals, we as teachers must wear many hats; counselor, parent, social worker and friend. Many of our students struggle to concentrate and learn because of other contributing factors in their lives. Some of the specific NVACS that will be addressed are: -RI.3.(1-3) Key Ideas and Details-Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers. -4.12.1 Students will identify and apply concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health. Communication skills may include: listening, verbal tone, non-verbal body language, negotiation strategies, refusal skills, techniques for avoiding violence, etc.
