My students are public high school students. The majority of them are American born Chinese. In other words, their parents or grandparents have immigrated to the United States. Like other high school students, they are involved in school clubs, sports teams, volunteer organizations, debates, etc. Almost all of them will continue studying at a four-year college after graduation. Many of them want to continue their cultural heritage and customs. Since most American high school students will benefit from learning cross-cultural project-based class activities, they will no doubt apply their experience in learning Chinese calligraphy into other avenues of their learning. Through art work, they will all become great communicators.
